“As a naturopathic physician, I look at the whole picture in order to understand what the root causes of imbalance in the body might be. I pride myself on getting to the bottom of it or at least getting essential answers, as efficiently and effectively as possible. I look for the lowest common denominators, or the things that bring a whole case together, the things that feed several birds with one seed, so to speak. For example, if a patient is experiencing insomnia, muscle cramps, and constipation, all at the same time, a potential lowest common denominator could be magnesium deficiency since our bodies require magnesium for proper sleep, a relaxed musculoskeletal system, and proper digestion and elimination.
All chronic disease in the body is caused, generally, by a combination of three things: deficiency, toxicity, and lack of energy. I’m looking for where patients might be deficient in their lives and bodies, and helping to replete their deficiencies. I’m looking for where a patient might be exposed to toxicity in their lives and bodies, and helping find ways to lower that toxic burden. I’m assessing patient's vitality or energy, and seeing where we can improve on that energy, that is, support it so that the mitochondria are sufficient in their ATP production, the thyroid is properly producing thyroid hormone, etc., and the body has enough vital energy in order to overcome illness. When I’m able to help address these three areas efficiently and effectively, then patients are often able to heal themselves or to resolve chronic illness or imbalance in the body.”
