Normal lab results are genuinely good news. They rule out many common and serious problems. But a routine panel is a screening tool, not a complete picture of how your body is working. If you still feel tired, achy, foggy, reactive, or simply not like yourself, a naturopathic doctor in Portland can look further with a whole-person evaluation, using your full history, your exposures, and more targeted testing to understand what is driving your symptoms.
At Portland Clinic of Natural Health in Tigard, Dr. Ben Reebs, ND and Dr. Maria Reebs, DNP offer naturopathic, integrative, and functional medicine in person and by telehealth throughout Oregon. We can work alongside your current doctors, and we are in network with several major Oregon insurance plans.

You know your body better than anyone. When your energy, sleep, digestion, skin, mood, or pain has changed, and your results keep coming back normal, it is easy to start wondering if it is all in your head.
Those symptoms are real, and they are worth taking seriously. Very often there is more to learn, and more that can help. The next step is simply a different kind of look.
Routine blood work does exactly what it is designed to do: screen efficiently for the most common and most urgent problems. A normal result is reassuring, and it matters. It just doesn't measure everything.
Some useful markers aren't part of a routine panel. A few examples:
Some conditions are recognized mostly by pattern and history. Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) and histamine intolerance, for example, are often identified by how symptoms behave and respond, alongside more specialized testing. Our guide to histamine intolerance vs. MCAS vs. mold illness walks through how they differ.
Your history is data too. Where you have lived and worked, what changed when symptoms started, and what makes them better or worse can point in directions no single lab can. Some of the most important environmental exposures, for instance, show up in a careful work and home history. Read more in our new article, Environmental Toxins and Autoimmune Disease: What the Evidence Actually Supports.
None of this means something was missed. It means there may be more worth looking at.
These approaches share one idea: look at the whole person and understand what is driving the symptoms, then build a plan around that.
That whole picture includes energy, sleep, digestion, hormones, immune health, pain, metabolism, and your environment. These systems talk to each other constantly. A gut issue can affect your skin, a hormone shift can affect your sleep, and a building you spend your days in can affect your immune system.
In Oregon, naturopathic doctors are licensed to diagnose, order laboratory testing, and prescribe medication. That means your care can include natural therapies and conventional tools, chosen based on what fits you best.

Can I see a naturopathic doctor if I already have a primary care provider?
Yes. Many of our patients keep their primary care provider and specialists. We can work alongside them and share information with your permission, so your care stays coordinated.
Can naturopathic doctors in Oregon prescribe medication?
Yes. Licensed naturopathic doctors in Oregon can diagnose, order labs, and prescribe medication. Dr. Maria, as a nurse practitioner, can also prescribe. Both providers offer medication management.
Will you take me off my medications?
Not on your own, and never abruptly. When it is appropriate and safe, we can explore natural alternatives or supplements, and any change is made carefully and coordinated with the doctor who prescribed the medication.
Is lab testing covered by insurance?
Comprehensive lab testing is often covered, depending on your plan. Specialty testing, such as mycotoxin panels, is self-pay. We will talk through options before ordering anything.
What conditions do you help with?
Dr. Ben focuses on chronic fatigue, chronic pain, allergies and MCAS, mold and environmental illness, autoimmune conditions, digestive health, and thyroid and endocrine health. Dr. Maria focuses on women's health and hormones, metabolic health, weight loss, PCOS/PMOS, skin concerns, and aesthetics.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Telehealth visits are available for patients throughout Oregon, and in-person visits are available at our Tigard office.
How do I become a patient?
